Research Description:

The contents of the gut microbiome have been increasingly correlated with a variety of health outcomes, such as Intestinal Bowel Diseases (IBDs), Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, and pregnancy-related disorders like preeclampsia. These microbes produce a variety of metabolites, which can then spread throughout the host’s body through blood plasma and influence organs at the cellular level, such as the placenta.My goal is to examine how the gut microbiome influences metabolite concentrations in plasma, and consequently how these metabolite concentrations influence placental function.

Project Responsibilities:

Design, optimize, and follow cell culture protocols to conduct metabolite concentration experiments.
Perform DNA Extraction on fecal samples to analyze the microbiome of pregnant mothers.
Utilize R coding to analyze large databases
